BPTO publishes the Action Plan for the upcoming year of 2024

The BPTO published, last Friday, December 29th, 2023, the Action Plan for the upcoming year of 2024, consisting of 34 goals and 48 strategic initiatives.

In this regard, the aforementioned Action Plan sets out guidelines, goals, and initiatives aimed at guiding the BRPTO throughout this next year, aligned with the strategic guidelines of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC), the Strategic Plan 2023-2026 previously published by the BPTO in March 2023 , and aligned with public policies on IP, especially the National Intellectual Property Strategy (ENPI).

For the new planning cycle, the BRPTO highlights the establishment of a Priority Agenda by the Internal Governance Committee, defining 15 priorities for 2024 associated with strategic programs and projects that will receive more intensive monitoring for greater effectiveness in their execution, which are directed towards the internal reorganization of the PTO such as the restructuring of the BRPTO Career and Position Plan, workforce recomposition, redesign of the current institutional model, implementation of patent process automation solutions, presentation of proposals to amend our current Industrial Property Law, improvements in Strategic Intelligence, formulation of institutional policy for the use of Artificial Intelligence, among many others.

Additionally, the PTO will also emphasize the formalization of the so-called transversal agenda, highlighting gender, diversity, and inclusion activities, as well as environmental sustainability, factors which are essential and of great importance for the alignment with policies developed worldwide, not only by other major IP Offices, but also by the world’s leading international companies.

Thus, through both ambitious strategic plan projects recently published by BRPTO, one can expect a year of hard work, improvements, and optimism for the development of Industrial and Intellectual Property in Brazil.
